How to Clear Cache in Brave Browser (2026 Guide)
Last updated: June 7, 2026
Brave is built on the same Chromium engine as Chrome, so clearing the cache works similarly — but with Brave's own menu structure and privacy-first defaults. If a website isn't loading correctly in Brave, clearing the cache usually fixes it.
Method 1: Quick Cache Bypass
The fastest way to force-reload a page without clearing any stored data.
Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + R
Mac: Cmd + Shift + R
This tells Brave to ignore the cached version and download everything fresh from the server.
Method 2: Clear Cache via Keyboard Shortcut
Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + Delete
Mac: Cmd + Shift + Delete
- Set Time range to "All time"
- Check "Cached images and files"
- Optionally check "Cookies and other site data" (this logs you out)
Brave clears the selected data. Refresh the problematic website to see if it's fixed.
Method 3: Clear Cache via Brave Menu
Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top-right corner of Brave — it looks like three horizontal lines, or you might see three dots depending on your version.
Click Settings, then go to Privacy and security in the left sidebar.
Select your time range, check the boxes, and click "Delete data".
Brave-Specific: Shields and Caching
Brave's built-in Shields can sometimes interfere with websites. If clearing the cache doesn't help:
Click the Brave lion icon (🦁) in the address bar, then toggle Shields off for the current site. Reload the page.
This disables ad-blocking, tracker-blocking, and other protections for that specific site only.
Brave on Android
Open the menu in the bottom-right corner.
Select "Cached images and files", set time range to "All time", and tap "Clear data".
Brave on iPhone / iPad
Open Settings from the bottom menu.
Check "Cache" and tap "Clear Private Data".
When to Clear Cache in Brave
- Website looks broken or outdated — stale cached assets
- Site works in Chrome but not Brave — try disabling Shields first, then clear cache
- Login loops or authentication errors — clear cookies + cache
- After Brave update — occasionally, old cache conflicts with new browser features
- Site was recently redesigned — your browser may be showing the old version
